Abbotsford Residence | Inner City Family Haven This dual dwelling newly built home began as a quiet conversation, an exploration of what it means to feel truly connected to the spaces we inhabit. Through a deeply personal design journey, we worked with the family to uncover the stories, memories, and rhythms that would shape each room. What emerged is a home where every space carries its own heartbeat, yet all are bound together by a gentle, unifying thread. Set within the pulse of the inner city, the home sits at the meeting point of energy and calm, steps from the urban centre yet softened by the nearby reserve and waterway. This contrast inspired a design that balances contemporary clarity with moments of stillness and retreat. Materiality became the language of expression with stone, metal, timber, and woven textiles were chosen not just for their beauty, but for the way they feel, cool, warm, textured, grounded. Each joinery detail was crafted with intention, every upholstered element shaped to invite touch. Layers of tone and texture unfold softly, creating spaces that breathe.
Every family member was given a palette that reflects their personality, allowing the home to move with rhythm and continuity while still offering pockets of individuality. As you move through the rooms, subtle shifts in colour and texture create a sense of discovery, with each space offering its own moment of intrigue, its own quiet story. Integrated joinery brings a sense of timeless craftsmanship, while relaxed, adaptable pieces support the ebb and flow of family life. The home welcomes solitude and togetherness in equal measure spaces to gather, to pause, to reconnect. Throughout, textiles soften the light, casting gentle shadows that shift with the day.
